Revel to Close Poker Room by August 15th
Revel announced over the weekend that it will close its poker room by August 15, 2013. It may close earlier if all promotional money is paid out before that date. The struggling Atlantic City casino posted this announcement at the Two Plus Two forum over the weekend.
Revel must give away all promotional funds before closing. This money was taken from pots and must be redistributed to players before the poker room closes as required by gaming law. According to Revel’s poker room management, the amount of the Bad Beat Jackpot pool exceeds $200,000. The Poker Promotional Fund held $112,000 at the time of the announcement.
The new bad beat qualifier will be aces full of jacks or better beaten. The qualifying hand may go down as the room attempts to liquidate the promotional fund as soon as possible. Revel will give away $500 each hour in a high hand bonus. Any funds not given away by August 15th through high hands or other jackpots may be distributed through a drawing. Revel also announced that all tournaments are canceled immediately, as well as all other promotions not pertaining to the bad beat and high hand jackpots.
Revel is one of just two Atlantic City casinos that have yet to announce its potential online gambling software partner.
