Alejandro Lococo Wins $1,050 WCOOP Main Event on PokerStars for $343,242
Alejandro Lococo has added a World Championship of Online Poker main event title to a résumé that already includes a $12 million WSOP bracelet. According to Card Player, the Argentinian won the $1,050 WCOOP main event on PokerStars for $343,242 after outlasting a field of 2,310 entries over four days of play. The prize pool topped $2.3 million.
Lococo, playing under the screen name ‘[Papo]AR’, streamed the finish live. Card Player notes that he is a CoinPoker ambassador, a deal he signed in March. He was one of three main event champions crowned across the series’ buy-in tiers. Felipe ‘lipe piv’ Boianovsky won the $10,300 main event, and the Ukrainian player ‘ihor888888’ took the $109 version.
The Q-4 Hand That Closed Out the WCOOP Main Event
Lococo held a commanding chip lead heads-up when the final hand began. He moved all in from the button with Q♦4♠, and ‘Goodarla’ called off a short stack with 10♥7♥. The J♣6♣4♥ flop gave Lococo a pair of fours. The 5♠ on the turn handed his opponent an open-ended straight draw on top of overcard outs, but the 4♦ river filled in trips and ended the tournament. Card Player describes Lococo jumping up with his fists raised as friends rushed into the room, chanting “Dale campeón” and dancing. Bracelet winners Alex Livingston and Faraz Jaka were among the players who sent congratulations afterward.
‘Goodarla’ took $244,673 for second place. Jorge ‘jorginho88’ Abreu finished third for $174,412, followed by ‘feedme12’ in fourth for $124,327 and ‘calldeKhig’ in fifth for $88,624. The rest of the final table paid out to ‘paco_cska20’ ($63,174), ‘Timmy_Twitch’ ($45,033), ‘Carboneraa’ ($32,101) and Julio ‘JúlioFantin’ Fantin, who earned $22,882 for ninth.
Lococo’s Triton Million Win and 2021 WSOP Main Event Run
The WCOOP score is the latest in a string of major results. At the 2024 WSOP Paradise festival, Lococo won the $500,000 buy-in Triton Million Invitational for $12,070,000. That victory brought both his first WSOP bracelet and a Triton title. He came close to a second Triton trophy only weeks before this win, finishing runner-up to Klemens Roiter in a $20,000 no-limit hold’em event at Triton Jeju.
His live record goes back further. In November 2021, Lococo reached the final table of the WSOP main event and finished seventh for $1,225,000. Card Player puts his total recorded tournament earnings at $16,981,726, a figure that does not yet include this online payday.
Poker is his second act. Lococo won the Red Bull Batalla de los Gallos freestyle rap competition in 2016, and his YouTube channel has more than 2.6 million subscribers. He posted on September 30 under his ‘Papo MC’ handle, calling himself “Campeón del mundo.” The $343,242 he collected that night is the largest WCOOP main event prize at the $1,050 tier this year.
