LuckyLand Slots FREE Sweeps Coins & Review
LuckyLand Slots is no longer operating. The VGW-owned sweepstakes casino, which launched in January 2019, has closed its doors, and its website now sends visitors to a “not available” notice instead of the old lobby. If you were looking for LuckyLand Slots sign-up offers or a promo code, there is nothing left to claim. This page explains what LuckyLand was, what happened to it, what the closure means for former players, where sweepstakes casinos are still permitted in the US, and which active sweepstakes platforms now fill the gap, starting with its sister brand Chumba Casino.

Top sweepstakes casinos like LuckyLand
Because LuckyLand is closed, the platforms covered on this page are sweepstakes casinos that are still running in the US states where the sweepstakes model is permitted. Sweepstakes casinos operate under federal and state promotional sweepstakes law, with a free method of entry, and each operator publishes its own list of excluded states. Always read the operator’s terms for your state before you play, and never play if you are under the minimum age (21+ at most sweepstakes sites, 18+ at some).
What happened to LuckyLand Slots?
LuckyLand Slots was one of the three US-facing sweepstakes brands run by the Australian company Virtual Gaming Worlds (VGW), alongside Chumba Casino and Global Poker. VGW was founded by Laurence Escalante in 2010 and built its business around the dual currency sweepstakes model that most US social casinos now use.
LuckyLand focused almost entirely on slots, with a smaller catalog of exclusive titles than its sister site. As of September 2026, the LuckyLand Slots domain no longer loads a playable casino. Visitors are redirected to a “not available” page, while Chumba Casino and Global Poker continue to operate normally. In practical terms, VGW has folded its slots offering into Chumba Casino, which already carried a much larger slot library as well as table style games.
For anyone researching LuckyLand today, the takeaway is simple: it is not an active casino, it does not accept new registrations, and it should not be treated as an option when you compare sweepstakes sites. Older reviews and bonus listings that still describe LuckyLand sign-up offers are out of date.
Outdated claims you may still see online
- “Licensed by the Malta Gaming Authority”: VGW no longer holds that license, so this claim should be ignored.
- “Publicly traded company”: VGW is a privately owned Australian company.
- “Sign up to get free Sweeps Coins at LuckyLand”: no new accounts can be created, so any offer like this is no longer valid.
What the closure means for former LuckyLand players
If you held a LuckyLand account, the most important step is to deal directly with VGW support rather than third party sites. Keep these points in mind:
- Use official channels only. Contact VGW through the support details published on its own active brands. Be wary of emails, social media messages or websites offering to “recover” LuckyLand coins or balances for a fee.
- Keep your records. Screenshots of balances, purchase receipts and redemption requests make any support conversation easier.
- Gold Coins never had cash value. Under the sweepstakes model, Gold Coins were for entertainment only. Only Sweeps Coins that had been played through and met the redemption threshold could ever be redeemed for prizes, under the terms that applied at the time.
- Do not open duplicate accounts elsewhere to “move” a balance. Every sweepstakes operator forbids multiple accounts and may close them.
How LuckyLand Slots worked
LuckyLand used the same two currency system that is still standard across active sweepstakes casinos, so understanding it helps when you look at alternatives.
- Gold Coins (GC): a play currency used purely for fun. Players could receive Gold Coins for free through login bonuses or buy packages of them. Gold Coins could not be redeemed for anything.
- Sweeps Coins (SC): a promotional currency that could not be bought directly. It came free with Gold Coin packages, through daily bonuses, or through a free mail-in method of entry. After being played through at least once, Sweeps Coins above the redemption minimum could be redeemed for cash prizes.
The free method of entry is the legal foundation of the whole model. Because no purchase is necessary to receive Sweeps Coins, operators argue that the games are promotional sweepstakes rather than gambling. That argument is exactly what a growing number of states have rejected, which is why the list of states where sweepstakes casinos may operate keeps shrinking.
At LuckyLand, the old setup included a daily login bonus that grew over a seven day streak, a loyalty ladder tied to Gold Coin purchases, slot tournaments with Gold Coin and Sweeps Coin prize pools, and redemptions via bank transfer once players reached the redemption minimum. None of these features are available any longer.
Sweepstakes casinos like LuckyLand Slots
The brands below are active sweepstakes platforms in the states where the model is permitted. Sweepstakes casinos do not hold state gaming licenses, so there is no regulator register to check them against. Instead, check each operator’s own terms for the states it serves and its age requirement.
Chumba Casino
Chumba Casino is the natural replacement for former LuckyLand players. It is owned by the same company, VGW, it uses the same Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins setup, and it has absorbed the slots focus that LuckyLand used to offer. Chumba’s library is considerably larger than LuckyLand’s ever was, and it includes table style games as well as slots. It runs in a browser on desktop and mobile. Read our full Chumba Casino review for details on its games, redemptions and restricted states.
Global Poker
Global Poker is the third VGW brand and the only one built around poker. It uses the sweepstakes model for cash games and tournaments, with slots added on top. If you used LuckyLand mainly for its casino side, Chumba is the closer match, but Global Poker is the VGW option for players who also want poker. See our Global Poker review.
McLuck Casino
McLuck is a slots-led sweepstakes casino with a much larger game catalog than LuckyLand had, drawn from several third party studios. It follows the same Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins structure and publishes its own excluded state list. Our McLuck Casino review covers its features in detail.

What to look for in a LuckyLand replacement
When you compare active sweepstakes casinos, focus on the factors that affect your experience and your ability to redeem prizes:
- State availability: confirm your state is not on the excluded list in the operator’s current terms.
- Free method of entry: a legitimate sweepstakes casino always offers a no purchase necessary way to get Sweeps Coins, usually through a mail-in request.
- Redemption rules: check the minimum Sweeps Coins needed for a prize redemption, the playthrough requirement and the identity verification steps.
- Game library: LuckyLand had a small set of exclusive slots; most active sites offer far more, from in-house titles to games from established studios.
- Support and transparency: clear terms, a published contact method and a responsible gaming page are basic signs of a serious operator.
- Responsible gaming tools: purchase limits, time-outs and self-exclusion options should be easy to find in your account settings.
LuckyLand Slots: Background
- Launched: January 2019, by VGW.
- Focus: slots, with a small library of exclusive titles plus daily slot tournaments.
- Model: sweepstakes, with Gold Coins for play and Sweeps Coins redeemable for prizes.
- Platforms: browser play on desktop and mobile, plus a downloadable Android app.
- Status today: closed. The domain redirects to a “not available” page and no new accounts can be opened.
- Closest active alternative: Chumba Casino, run by the same company.
Play responsibly
Sweepstakes casinos are meant to be entertainment. Even though Gold Coins are play money, buying coin packages costs real money, and Sweeps Coin play can lead to the same habits as gambling. Set a budget before you start, never chase losses, and take breaks.

LuckyLand Slots FAQ
Is LuckyLand Slots still open?
No. LuckyLand Slots has closed, its website redirects to a “not available” page, and it no longer accepts new players.
Is there a LuckyLand Slots promo code?
No. Because the site is closed, there are no active LuckyLand sign-up offers or promo codes. Any listing that still advertises one is out of date.
What is the best casino like LuckyLand Slots?
Chumba Casino is the closest match. It is run by the same company, VGW, uses the same Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins system, and offers a larger slot library.
Was LuckyLand Slots legal?
LuckyLand operated under the sweepstakes model in the states where that model was permitted and excluded states that restricted it. Today a growing number of states prohibit online sweepstakes casinos, so check each active operator’s restricted state list before you play.
Where can I get help with problem gambling?
Call or text 1-800-GAMBLER, or visit the National Council on Problem Gambling for confidential support in every state.
