L.A.’s Bicycle Casino To Become Full-Scale Resort In December
The Bicycle Casino in the Los Angeles suburb of Bell Gardens will upgrade to a full service resort on December 1, 2015.
A closer look at the Bike’s hotel
At the start of December, a seven-story hotel will open on the Bike’s property. There will be 99 guest rooms, including 29 suites.
There will be four styles of suites:
- Classic Suite measures at 648 square feet.
- Bike Suite (904 square feet)
- Governor’s Suite (1,359 square feet)
- Presidential Suite (2,007 square feet) offers two bedrooms, a formal living room and a jacuzzi tub.
Also at the Bike’s resort…
The new hotel-resort addition will also include a state-of-the-art fitness center and pool deck with private cabanas. Those amenities are located on the second floor.
A total of 15,000 square feet of convention space will accompany the launch of the resort. The project will create 100 new hospitality jobs.
The hotel will open one day after the 31st anniversary of the Bicycle Casino’s 1984 grand opening.
Of course, the casino is still there as well: There are 185 tables. These include a full spread of live poker action, baccarat, blackjack, Crazy4Poker, Ultimate Texas Hold’em, Pai Gow Poker and Pai Gow Tiles. These games are spread across four rooms: The Macau Room, High Limit Baccarat, The Monte Carlo Room and High Limit Poker.
The Bike and poker tournaments
The fact that the Bike is now a full resort could make it an even more attractive destination for major poker tournaments.
The hotel and other amenities are opening in time for this year’s World Series of Poker Circuit event, which takes place in December. The Bike also hosts a World Poker Tour stop — the Legends of Poker. This year, that series took place in the summer.
Online poker coming for the Bike?
Bicycle Casino’s next big news could be online poker, although that is certainly not imminent, as anyone who has followed online poker’s chances in the California legislature would know.
The Bike has partnered with The Morongo Band of Mission Indians, the Commerce Club and Hawaiian Gardens Casino in the event that California legalizes and regulates online poker. PokerStars would provide the platform for this network.
There is at least a chance that legislation that seeks to regulate online poker could come as soon as 2016.
