ClubWPT Gold to Exit Nevada, Sets Oct. 2 Withdrawal Deadline

ClubWPT Gold announced Thursday that it is shutting down operations in Nevada, according to Card Player. The sweepstakes poker site said players in the state can no longer purchase coins, and sweepstakes play itself will be unavailable starting September 28. Nevada users have until October 2 to withdraw their remaining balances.

The company urged its Nevada subscribers to cancel their memberships but left the door open to a comeback. In a statement cited by Card Player, ClubWPT Gold said it was “pausing sweepstakes gameplay in Nevada” in response to “shifts in the regulatory environment.”

“We are optimistic that with product modifications, we can resume offering sweepstakes gameplay in the future,” the company said.

ClubWPT Gold has not detailed exactly what regulatory changes triggered the exit.

Business Model Overhaul Preceded the Exit

The pullout follows a significant restructuring of the site’s business model in September 2025, when ClubWPT Gold scrapped its free-to-play games and Gold Coins in favor of poker training credits that players purchase to play, redeeming winnings for prizes. Card Player reports the shift was designed to keep the site within the law in states cracking down on sweepstakes gaming, including California, where ClubWPT Gold continues to operate. Some legal experts have argued the new model may still run afoul of California statutes.

Nevada appears to be the first state ClubWPT Gold has left since adopting the training-credit format. The company had leaned into the Nevada market as recently as June, when it ran a digital billboard campaign along the Las Vegas Strip during the World Series of Poker.

Nevada’s Online Poker Field Keeps Shrinking

Nevada is one of four states in the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement, where WSOP Online offers real-money poker pooled with players in New Jersey, Michigan and Pennsylvania. No other licensed operator has launched real-money online poker in Nevada, though BetMGM has previously signaled it could eventually enter the market.

On the sweepstakes side, options for Nevada residents were already limited. Global Poker bars players from Nevada along with 14 other states, including California, and Clubs Poker excludes Nevada and nine other states. With ClubWPT Gold now added to that list, Card Player notes that the tightening rules around sweepstakes gaming are leaving many players in restricted states with little recourse beyond offshore operators.

ClubWPT Gold has not said when or under what conditions it might return to Nevada, only that it hopes further product changes will allow it to resume operations there.
