New York Welcomes A New Poker Room In The Catskills

People who are looking to escape the daily chaos of New York City life head to the Catskills to soak up nature and unwind. Now, those same people can trade one grind for another.

On Monday, Resorts World Catskills announced the opening of their brand new 5,000-square-foot, 19-table poker room. The opening of the poker room came about one month after the opening of the property.

“We are committed to providing our guests with the region’s most extensive, exciting luxury experiences and our new poker room is best in its class and a perfect example of this commitment,” said Ryan Eller, President, and CEO of Resorts World Catskills said in a press release. “We are confident that this poker room, paired with our property’s vast array of other offerings and amenities, will solidify Resorts World Catskills as the region’s premier casino resort destination.”

New York’s newest poker room

Players will enjoy their favorite games projected around the room on 13 55” flat-screen HDTVs.

Additionally, there is tableside food & beverage service, and USB charging ports at every seat. Look for chair massage services to be on the list of growing amenities soon.

The non-smoking poker room is open 24/7 and will offer Texas Hold’em, Seven Card Stud and Omaha. Betting begins at $3-$6 for limit games and $1-$2 for no limit games.

There is a minimum buy-in of $30, and the maximum buy-in differs by level of play.

A weekly tournament schedule is not available at this time, but tournaments and poker promotions are expected to be announced later this year.

The poker room is also offering a player-funded bad beat jackpot when quad fives or better loses to a qualifying hand. All the details can be found on the Resorts World Catskills website.

“We are thrilled to debut this new poker room to our players,” said Jack Kennedy, Executive Director of Table Games for Resorts World Catskills. “With this addition, we are providing even more experiences that are truly unique to the area, and bringing Las Vegas-style gaming to the Catskills.”

About Resorts World Catskills

Resorts World Catskills is about 90 miles north of New York City. Hiking trails, wildlife and ski resorts in the beautiful Catskills Mountains surround the brand new property.

Resorts World Catskills Casino Resort brings over 100,000 square feet of gaming to the area.

The casino includes 2,150 cutting-edge slot machines, over 150 live table games and the new poker room that opened on Monday.

After the property is complete, there will 332 all-suite luxury rooms. All facilities will meet 5-star and 5-diamond standards including the seven two-story villas.

Guests at the property can also expect year-round live entertainment at the 2,500-seat event center, a day spa with relaxation in mind, and 10 different bar and restaurant choices ranging from casual to fine-dining experiences.

Off to a Slow Start

Resorts World Catskills, New York’s newest and largest casino and resort destination, opened its doors on Feb. 8.

It entered a saturated New York Casino market one month ahead of schedule, after spending $1.2 billion on the resort destination.

Revenues for February put Resorts World in third place behind the other casinos in the area during their debut months. del Lago Resort & Casino in the Finger Lakes and Rivers Casino & Resort in Schenectady opened in February of 2017.

Will the resort destination be enough to bring new guests to the area? Or will the existing customer base and revenue be split out among the growing number of casinos?

Questions remain as another resort will open soon. There must be some concern that new casinos will affect the revenues of the existing casinos.

The lackluster earnings may be a result of the early opening of the property. Now that the poker room is fully operational and as more amenities continue to open, it is hopeful the revenue will follow.

Already boasting 338 reviews with an average rating of four stars, it appears the resort is delivering their promised luxury, outstanding amenities, and unparalleled service.
