BetMGM Poker Sign-up Bonus Code & Review
BetMGM Poker is part of the partypoker US Network and is now available to players in three states – New Jersey, Michigan and Pennsylvania. Players can battle it out online at BetMGM in cash games, daily tournaments, and major poker festivals.
BetMGM is the online poker wing for ROAR Digital, a joint venture between gaming giants MGM Resorts International and Entain (formerly GVC Holdings). The BetMGM brand is also used for the company’s online casino and sportsbook offerings.

Because MGM also owns Borgata Poker and Entain owns partypoker, there is some crossover between the three brands.
Online poker players in Michigan got a second option when BetMGM went live on March 23, 2021. The platform is part of the partypoker US Network and offers players a nice experience similar to the international partypoker site.
In New Jersey, the three brands share one of New Jersey’s four poker networks. So far, BetMGM is the only skin in Michigan and also debuted in Pennsylvania in April 2021.
Though there is a relationship between the site and partypoker, the two are not preparing to share network space in those two locations.
BetMGM (along with Borgata Poker and partypoker) operates on one of the lower-trafficked networks in New Jersey. However, there are still games to be found around the clock. Now that they have launched in Michigan and Pennsylvania, it would not be a surprise to see a renewed push for market share in 2021.
In fact, BetMGM recently released a major software update with tons of new customization options and a cleaner look and feel. There is also an expanded tournament schedule with bigger weekly guarantees. So, it might be time to pay attention to BetMGM, as big things are on the way.

BetMGM deposit and reload bonuses
Both of the BetMGM Poker bonuses are based on the size of your opening deposit. Here’s how they both work:
100% deposit match up to $1,000
Your first deposit is matched 100% for up to $1,000. The bonus funds you receive are paid out in 10% increments. For example, if you deposited $400, you would receive $40 increments. They are released based on a 14x playthroughout rate. So here, you would need to earn 560 MGM Rewards Points to get $40 in bonus funds released.
You have 120 days to clear the deposit match welcome bonus.
Up to $75 in tournament tickets
BetMGM also gives you up to $75 in tournament tickets, the amount you get is based on the size of your opening deposit. Here is the breakdown:
- Deposit $1,000+: Get $75 in tickets (two $20 tickets, three $10 tickets and one $5 ticket)
- Deposit $500-$999: Get $50 in tickets (one $20 ticket, two $10 tickets and two $5 tickets)
- Deposit $10-$499: Get $25 in tickets (one $20 ticket and one $5 ticket)
The ticket expire two weeks after being issued.
Reload promos
The BetMGM online poker site also runs a number of reload promotions on a regular basis, including the You Deposit We Raise promotion. This promo allows players to access a 100% deposit bonus up to $200 one day per week throughout the month.
BetMGM Poker app
BetMGM players can access the BetMGM online poker room in the following ways:
- Downloadable client: The primary client offers all BetMGM games and features.
- Browser-based client: This Java-based client offers access to most of the same BetMGM games and features. Because Chrome does not support Java plug-ins, players should consider using Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer browsers.
- Mobile: The BetMGM poker app is designed for both iPhone/iPad and Android users and offers a relatively complete version of its downloadable online poker client.

The partypoker app underwent major upgrades in 2019, offering a more user-friendly interface and lobby. The new app allows for easy one-handed play, simple navigation, an easier multi-tabling experience, and more social gaming elements.
The redesign was meant to appeal to a more traditional mobile gaming public. Players have been receptive to the changes so far.
What states have BetMGM Poker?
Currently, BetMGM online poker is available in three states: New Jersey, Michigan and Pennsylvania.
The BetMGM online poker site in New Jersey shares its player pool with partypoker and Borgata Poker. Effectively, the only difference is branding, promotions, and a handful of exclusive tournaments on each of the sites. Unsurprisingly, BetMGM is partnered with Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa as its New Jersey land-based partner.
BetMGM Poker launched in Michigan in March 2021, becoming the second operator to go live in the state. In Michigan, the company partners with MGM Grand Detroit. The site received some praise for its game play and mobile app after its initial launch.
The platform quickly announced its popular Online Series would be played on the platform in April. That becomes the site’s first online tournament series and these festivals have become popular in New Jersey.
In recent years, the Online Series have built some traction and BetMGM/partypoker offer numerous satellite opportunities.
The site also ran World Poker Tour events in 2020 and it’s a good bet more of that will come in 2021 in both states. Partypoker partners with the WPT in both live and online events.
BetMGM Poker has launched in Pennsylvania in April 2021. The state has already approved the platform, which has already partnered with Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course in the state.
Who are the players on BetMGM Poker?
One question that players in the three BetMGM states may have is regarding the origins of their competition. The short answer is that for now, all three BetMGM sites will draw from inside their respective states only.
The Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA) is in effect in New Jersey, which allows sites from the Garden State to share player pools with sites in Nevada and Delaware.
However, as there are no BetMGM sites in those two states, New Jersey players will only be playing each other and players from Borgata Poker and partypoker. Michigan and Pennsylvania players will only play others in that state.
In January 2021, the federal litigation surrounding the Wire Act came to an end. The Trump Department of Justice argued that the law applied to all online gaming.
The New Hampshire lottery commission sued, arguing that the act was meant solely for sports betting. The lottery won the first round in court and then won again in federal appeals court.
That paves the way for more interstate compacts and shared liquidity. Regulators will have to hash out the details on this and as of March 2021, no expansion of these deals had taken place yet.
However, expect more on this in the coming months. A BetMGM/partypoker US Network interstate compact would mean larger player and prize pools. This agreements offer a huge plus for the growth of the industry in the US.
BetMGM game selection
Cash games
The online poker client from BetMGM offers:
- Texas Hold’em
- Fixed Limit Hold’em
- Omaha
- Omaha Hi/Lo
- Seven Card Stud
- Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo
As with any online poker site, the majority of the games running are Texas Hold’em. BetMGM Poker features games from microstakes to mid-to-high stakes. There are also several online Omaha games running at any time, which usually involve either pot limit Omaha and pot limit Omaha high/low.
The other three games – fixed limit hold’em and the two types of Stud – are harder to find. The best time to play these options is during evenings and weekends.
At any given time, there are 25 or 30 cash game tables running during weekday evening hours. Game traffic declines substantially during other times.
Sit and gos
NLHE games are really the only ones that run, although players can find PLO games periodically.
Multi-table tournaments
The majority of the MTT games on the network are of the no limit Texas hold’em variety. Pot limit Omaha tournaments also run, albeit less frequently. Sunday remains the big day for tournaments on the network with a $35,000 guarantee event running weekly.
BetMGM also now runs a Daily $10K. This $109 tournament features a $10,000 guaranteed prize pool and runs at 7 p.m.
The $535 Mega Tuesday Six-Max is also a popular tournament. Players start with a 75,000 starting chip stack and it features a $10,000 guarantee.
BetMGM also runs tournament series from time to time. Tournaments in those events can have guarantees that range into the hundreds of thousands of dollars.

- Account safeguarding ensures player identity and location are verified.
- Fund segregation ensures all player deposits are held separately from operating accounts.
- Game fairness ensures all games and random number generators employed are lab tested.
- Responsible gaming requires sites to provide responsible gaming tools, including deposit limits and access to a self-exclusion program.
BetMGM Poker FAQ
Who can play at BetMGM Poker?
Anyone who is over the age of 21 and inside New Jersey or Michigan or Pennsylvania can play on BetMGM Poker.
What sets BetMGM apart from its competitors?
The first thing to notice about BetMGM is the size of its introductory bonus. Players can receive up to $1,000 in bonus funds via the 100% deposit match AND up to $75 in tournament tickets for free. Just sign up with BetMGM Poker and enter the bonus code CHIPUSA when doing so to be eligible.
BetMGM also offers the opportunity to play with players on other sites, at least in New Jersey and Michigan. The potential for sharing player pools with Pennsylvania looms large, too. Because BetMGM has excellent brand recognition, a shared pool would inflate prize pools and available cash for players in all three states.
Who should play at BetMGM Poker?
BetMGM Poker caters to players of all types of skill and bankroll levels. In New Jersey, the player pools are not the largest in the state. As a result, it’s more of a recreational player’s playground than one for the pros, with fun and access larger considerations than profits.
There’s no reason to assume that similar situations won’t occur in PA and MI, particularly since PokerStars is already active in both states. The site also partners with the World Poker Tour, offering opportunities to play in those events both live and online.
What are the BetMGM poker cash game stakes?
BetMGM Poker offers a variety of cash game stakes, ranging from $0.01/$0.02 to $10/$20. It is even possible to find $25/$50 games from time to time.
Does BetMGM Poker offer tournament overlays?
BetMGM Poker tournaments have been subject to overlays in the past. That means great value for players, but it’s not likely to last. Part of the reason that BetMGM Poker launched on the Borgata/partypokerNJ network and is considering options for interstate player pools is to try to draw more players to the larger tournaments and end the frequency of overlays.
Any areas where BetMGM Poker can improve?
- Traffic: BetMGM has the lowest cash game traffic in New Jersey. While the gap is smaller on the tournament side, BetMGM would do well to create a bigger marketing splash than it did at launch to try to change this. The site has seen its fortunes improve since the pandemic of 2020 with improved revenue numbers and growth.
- Innovation: BetMGM’s offering was a bit perfunctory when it first launched. However, the company made major improvements to the software, especially the mobile platform, and received praise among players.
The opportunity for growth in the three online poker markets is there. Sites like BetMGM Poker need only take a leadership role to get things going.
BetMGM Poker Quick Review
Summary
BetMGM Poker remains a part of one of four poker networks in New Jersey. Though its traffic numbers in New Jersey are lower than preferred, the BetMGM online poker site is meant to represent hope. Now that BetMGM is live in Michigan and Pennsylvania, the hope is that BetMGM can become one of the biggest market leaders for online poker in the US.
