New Jersey Tournament Review for the Week Ending Aug 24 2014

Last week, average turnout at Party Poker New Jersey nightly guaranteed tournaments were on par with previous weeks, coming in at 102 runners per night in the $5K, and 115 for the $10K. In the smaller guarantee event, Thursday was the biggest day, bringing in 116 players, while Wednesday saw the low-end at 88. Laumserg grabbed first place and $1,044 after besting JJ2MG heads up for the top prize in the category.

In the $10Ks, traffic hit its peak on Sunday, when 150 runners did battle, while dropping to his low on Friday, with 99. SmellsLikeIrish took the top prize on Sunday, banking $3,071 after felting mrdadio488.

Traffic was up slightly at the $50K Sunday Major, rising from 258 the previous week to 263 last week. The tournament barely missed its guarantee and offered a $2,270 overlay, while paying 54 spots. Johnsnow navigated the field to take home the hefty $10,000 first place prize, with BoozeCans making do with $7,000 for second and JrotNMint2722 banking $4,500 for third.

There wasn’t much movement in traffic at WSOP’s nightly tournaments since our last update. The $5Ks boasted 190 runners on average, compared to 193 the previous week, while the $10Ks saw 145, just two less entrants on average than the previous week.

The biggest turnout in the $5Ks came on Saturday, with 207 runners buying in. LBJ1_MJ2 topped the field and walked away with $1,540 after a total of 244 rebuys and 130 add-ons were made.

Monday was the big day in the $10K events, with 177 runners taking part. Well-known grinder LeftSid3, a.k.a. JohnnyDrama, made quick work of the field and added another $3,233 to his bankroll.

In the site’s $25K Sunday Major, traffic was up slightly, with 116 runners buying in for a shot at 20 paid spots. Smallglasses emerged victorious after defeating BiggDaddy for an impressive $7,000 payday.

888 Poker

Traffic at 888’s $1,500 Guarantees has stayed steady at 60 runners on average per night for the last three weeks. Last week, Tuesday’s tournament was the biggest, bringing in 64 runners, while participation dropped to a low on Monday with 56.

The site also ran $2,500 Guarantee “NJ High Roller” tournaments throughout the week, with Piffffffffff beating out the biggest field for $1,043 on Thursday.

In the Big Sunday $10K, 47 runners turned out, five less than the previous week. Jerseyjosh rose to the top of the eight paid spots, taking out l0lflawless for a $3,200 payday.

Ultimate Poker

At Ultimate Poker, traffic in the $1K nightly tournaments remained on par with the previous week, with 18 runners on average per night. Saturday’s tournament proved to be the largest, with ThePokerKid beating out 21 opponents for a $450 score.

On Sunday, 23 players battled it out in the $2,500 Guarantee, the same number as the previous week. New Jersey grinder JMPoker took down the tournament for $1,125 along with a $1,000 Guarantee the same night for another $500.
