PokerStars And PartyPoker Will Go Heads-Up In NJ With Big Tourney Series

PokerStars NJ and PartyPoker NJ are both running tournament series this October, with a week of overlap, creating one of the best times to be a tournament player in the New Jersey online poker scene.

First up, GSSS V

PartyPoker and Borgata are running the fifth edition of their Garden State Super Series in October, with $1.1 million guaranteed.

GSSS V features 75 tournaments, starting Oct. 9 and wrapping up Oct. 23.

Buy-ins start from just $10, with the biggest guaranteed prize pool hitting $175,000. That’s a $320 buy-in event that takes place on the final Sunday of the series.

Other highlights include:

  • The biggest buy-in is just over $1,060 (Oct. 23, $75,000 guaranteed).
  • A $215 buy-in event guarantees $75,000 on the opening day.
  • The middle Sunday features a $100,000 guarantee, again for a $215 buy-in.
  • Satellites are available for events starting at just $1.

Then it’s the NJCOOP

PokerStars will also be holding a major two-week tournament series — the New Jersey Championship of Online Poker — which will run from Oct. 16 through Oct. 30.

The tournament schedule has not yet been released; so far, we only know that it is happening.

The total guarantee will almost certainly be over a million dollars; we might even expect PokerStars to try to one-up the GSSS with more money.

PokerStars is also running a unique reload bonus you can take advantage of now.

Clear your schedule for overlap week

For those capable of reading a calendar, that means there is a full week when both Party/Borgata and PokerStars will hold major guaranteed tournaments.

The middle Sunday, in particular, will have to be a must-play if you are a living, breathing online poker multi-table tournament player. With both sites likely running big tournaments in parallel, you will get the best chance at big fields, and even possibly some overlay.

And if you’re a weekday tourney player, there will obviously be multiple tournaments to enter every day.

If cash games are your thing, you might also see some of the most action of any point in the year, with more players online for the tournaments.

Regardless, October will be a good time to be an online poker player in New Jersey.
