Return to SLS Las Vegas One Month Later

SLS Las Vegas is celebrating its one month anniversary today. We dropped by Las Vegas’ newest casino to see what had changed since our visit on the day it launched.

The biggest change was the lack of crowds. The place was nearly empty on a Monday night. The Foxtail Pool Club had an event that was loud but not very crowded. It was still early in terms of nightclub hours. The music created a positive vibe when arriving from the parking deck, which overlooks the pool.

Most of the table games were closed. The entire front pit was dark. This was an unwelcoming sight. SLS Las Vegas should consider having these tables open and closing ones toward the rear of the casino.

The table limits were lower than our first visit on opening day. Most games had a $5 minimum bet. There was even $5 blackjack and craps. All proprietary table games were $5, including Ultimate Texas Hold’em, Let it Ride and Crazy4Poker. Three Card Poker was also $5. It was the only one of these games below $10 on opening day.

Pai Gow Poker, baccarat and roulette all offered $10 minimums. High limit action still started at $100.
We had heard that the high limit video poker returns had been lowered. We were unable to find the specific games that reportedly had been adjusted. The $5 and lower denominations were exactly the same as we found during our previous visit.

The selection of video poker games on the main casino floor offered the same pay tables as on opening day. This included the four 100 percent machines by the sportsbook bar. Games on this machine include Double Joker, Double Bonus, Joker Poker, Super Aces and Pick’em Poker.

I played on the 100% machine for about an hour. No drink servers ever stopped by to check on me. I would look up when they walked by and they would continue past me. Maybe this area was not their section, but it was not anyone else’s either. SLS Las Vegas may want to see if there are holes in their beverage service sections during off peak hours.

We did a full report on the gaming at SLS Las Vegas on opening day. It may be found here.
