Caesars job posting points to new WSOP Online poker platform as 888 software deal nears end
A Caesars Digital hiring notice describes a licensed third-party poker platform, raising the prospect that WSOP Online will leave the 888 software it has run on since 2013. The room pools players across Nevada, New Jersey, Michigan and Pennsylvania, so a switch could affect players in all four states.
- PokerFuse reported on Oct. 15 that Caesars is building a new online poker product that could end 888's role as WSOP Online's real-money software provider since 2013.
- The WSOP-888 software agreement was renewed in 2021 for five years and is due to expire in 2026, according to PokerFuse.
- WSOP Online's fall bracelet series runs 33 events and ends on Nov. 10, and PokerTube says it may be the last series on 888-powered software.
- Caesars will report third-quarter 2026 results after the market closes on Oct. 27 and will not hold an earnings call because of the pending Fertitta Entertainment merger.
WSOP Online, the real-money US poker room Caesars has operated on 888 software since 2013, appears to be lining up a new platform. Caesars is building a new online poker product, PokerFuse reported on Oct. 15, basing its story on a Caesars Digital job posting for a Senior Product Manager for poker.
The room’s footprint is what makes the change matter. Adding Pennsylvania to WSOP Online’s shared player pool with Nevada, New Jersey and Michigan made it the first online poker operator to pool players across four US jurisdictions, Caesars said in April 2025. A software change could therefore affect players in every one of those states.
Neither Caesars nor 888 has confirmed a platform change.
Caesars Digital posting describes a licensed third-party poker platform
Two components appear in the posting. One is a separate poker client that players could open in a browser or download to Apple and Android phones; the other adds poker functions to the Caesars offerings for sports betting and online casino. That second element would place poker inside apps Caesars already runs for other verticals, rather than leaving it as a separate client.
The more telling detail concerns who writes the code. According to PokerFuse, the posting shows Caesars plans to license a third-party poker platform instead of building its own, then connect it to its existing iGaming and player-account systems. No supplier is named.
That choice keeps Caesars out of in-house poker development. It also means the company will again depend on an outside vendor for the core game engine, the same structure it has had with 888.
The 888 agreement renewed in 2021 runs out in 2026
Timing explains why the posting drew attention. The WSOP-888 software agreement was renewed in 2021 for five years and is due to expire in 2026, PokerFuse said.
This year’s poker calendar has so far stayed on the existing technology. The 2026 WSOP Online bracelet series ran 30 events from May 30 to July 14, was open to players in Nevada, New Jersey, Michigan and Pennsylvania, and still ran on 888poker software. The fall bracelet series has 33 events and wraps up on Nov. 10 with Event #33. PokerTube has described it as possibly the last series on 888-powered software.
Recent results give the move some commercial context, though no source ties the two. New Jersey’s Division of Gaming Enforcement reported on Oct. 19 that internet gaming win reached $274.8 million in September, up 13.0% from $243.1 million a year earlier. Over the same month, total New Jersey internet revenue under the WSOP brand slipped 1.4% to $952,997 from $966,618, Elite Sports NY reported. That brand figure includes casino games, so it does not isolate poker. Still, the WSOP number fell while the statewide total rose.
The digital division as a whole has also cooled. Caesars Digital’s adjusted EBITDA was $68 million in the second quarter of 2026, down from $80 million a year earlier, according to the company’s July filing.
NSUS Group owns the WSOP brand while Caesars runs US rooms
Any supplier decision sits inside an unusual ownership arrangement. Caesars sold the whole WSOP brand to NSUS Group, GGPoker’s parent company, for $500 million in 2024, but kept a license to keep running the US online poker rooms itself, PokerTube reported.
That link has fed speculation about GGPoker’s role. PokerTube also reports that GGPoker holds a supplier license in Pennsylvania and has registered as a foreign corporation in New Jersey and Michigan. A June 2026 PokerFuse report, however, found no public sign that GGPoker was preparing to take over WSOP Online.
For now, the brand owner and the platform supplier are separate questions. The posting answers neither.
Pending Fertitta merger means no third-quarter earnings call
The poker plans are unfolding while Caesars itself is changing hands. Fertitta Entertainment is set to pay $31.00 per share in cash for the company, a transaction valued at about $17.6 billion once roughly $11.9 billion of debt the buyer will take on is counted, Caesars disclosed in a May 28 SEC filing.
Federal review has since lengthened. Caesars and Fertitta Entertainment each received a Second Request from the FTC on Sept. 14, extending the antitrust waiting period until 30 days after both companies substantially comply.
The pending merger also limits what investors will hear directly from management. Caesars has said it will not hold an earnings call for the third quarter because of the transaction.
Caesars will publish its third-quarter 2026 results after the market closes on Tuesday, Oct. 27.
