Step Behind The Scenes Of The 2015 World Series Of Poker

USPoker received early access to the Rio Convention Center to capture the construction of the 2015 World Series of Poker. We visited on Sunday, May 24.

Converting convention space into the most prestigious poker series in the world is a massive task. It involves weeks of preparation.

WSOP.com Nevada features prominently

We started outside the convention center parking lot entrance. The front steps greeted us with the message stating, “A Thousand Reasons To Play, Millions Of Dollars To Win.”

We also noticed an impactful advertisement for the state’s largest poker site, WSOP.com NV.

The World Series of Poker logo is noticeable throughout the Rio Convention Center. There will be many online events and satellites spread this summer at WSOP.com.

Inside the 2015 WSOP

Our first stop inside the Rio Convention Center was the Pavilion Room. An employee orientation was conducted during our visit in this convention room. We took pictures of the cash game and satellite sections in the room without disturbing the meeting.

Here is the first look at the 2015 World Series of Poker tables. We got to see firsthand how this year’s tables look before the chip trays, shufflers, and drop boxes are cut out of the felt.

Our next stop was the Poker Kitchen. It looked to be nearly completed during our visit.

There are several vendors in the corridor between the Pavilion Room and the back portion of the Rio Convention Center. These include the Global Poker Index/Hendon Mob and Zen Poker.

The Brasilia Room was our next stop. This room was almost completely set up. The Brasilia Room includes the main stage for bracelet presentations.

It will host numerous tournaments this season.

Things to know

All World Series of Poker entrants must sign up for a Total Rewards card. An account may be created between the Brasilia Room and the Amazon Room.

If you forget to bring one, a new card can be issued at this desk.

The Amazon Room appeared to be the last on the construction list. This is the site for the final table stage.

That stage was in many pieces, as were many tables in the room, some of which still needed final work on the felts. Employees worked diligently to ensure that the Amazon Room is ready by the time cards were in the air on Wednesday.

This year’s World Series of Poker will make history.

It includes the $565 COLOSSUS tournament that guarantees a $5 million prize pool that starts on May 29. Event #64 is an online bracelet event with a $1,000 buy-in. That tournament will be held on July 2.

There are a total 68 events this year. The World Series of Poker concludes with the $10,000 Main Event. First flights run from July 5 through July 7.
