All Three Signature NJ Sunday Tournaments Beat Their Guarantees Last Week

There is over $200k in guarantees across the 14 tournaments US Poker tracks, but NJ online poker operators combined to hand out only $6,500 in overlays on Sunday. Further, most of that amount came via a single tournament, as the high roller at Borgata-MGM-party boasted a $4,000 overlay.
For the first time in quite a while, all three major tournaments – the $40k guarantee at WSOP.com-888; the $40k guarantee at Borgata-MGM-party; and the $50k guarantee at PokerStars NJ – met their guarantees.

The $40k Guarantee
The Borgata/partypoker/MGM online poker network hosts a $40,000 guarantee tournament every Sunday. The tournament has a $215 buy-in, $15 of which goes to tournament fees. That works out to a seven percent rake.
The $40k guarantee on the partypoker network continues to impress. For the second consecutive week, the tournament easily cleared its guarantee by 27 entries, an increase of seven entries over last week. And it did so on a Sunday when the PokerStars $50k and the 888 $40k both beat their guarantees.

More signature events at Borgata/party/MGM
The network’s signature event is performing well, but the other big tournaments on the Sunday schedule are struggling. Only one of five events met its guarantee, and for the second consecutive week the $3k guaranteed turbo failed to run.

PokerStars signature event surpasses guarantee
The $50k Sunday Special
PokerStars is home to the largest weekly guaranteed tournament in the New Jersey market, which also happens to be the least expensive. The Sunday Special at PokerStars NJ features a $200 buy-in and a $50,000 guarantee, making it $15 cheaper and $10,000 richer than its competitors’ flagship Sunday events.
The tournament is raked seven percent, as $186 of the $200 entry fee goes to the prize pool, and $14 to tournament fees.
After an overlay of over $8,000 two weeks ago, the Sunday Special rebounded this past weekend. With a total of 275 entries, the tournament beat its guarantee by $1,150.

In addition to the Sunday Special, PokerStars NJ hosts two other major Sunday tournaments with guarantees of $10k and $15k respectively.
The high-roller has been easily eclipsing the $15k guarantee PokerStars slapped on it, while the Sunday Warmup continues to offer a modest overlay.

PokerStars readies for NJCOOP
PokerStars NJ is also running gearing up for the second running of NJCOOP.

Overlays are shrinking at Pala
The tournaments may not have big prize-pools, but Pala’s tournament schedule has the highest overlays (by percentage) in the New Jersey market.
As it’s still in beta, Pala Poker is only offering a daily schedule at this point.
The daily schedule is highlighted by two $10 buy-in ($9 + $1), $250 guaranteed events, and while there are still sizable overlays, the number of runners in these events has nearly doubled over the past few weeks.

Wsop.com-888 narrowly avoids overlays in two of three tournaments
The good news is only one of the three WSOP.com-888 tournaments US Poker tracks had an overlay this past Sunday.
The bad news is, the other two events barely met their guarantees.
The $40k Warrior
Every Sunday, the WSOP.com and 888 network host “The Warrior,” a $215 buy-in tournament with a $40,000 guarantee. The rake for the Warrior is the same seven percent that you’ll find at other sites.
The Warrior avoided an overlay by ticking back above 200 entries this week.
