Online poker players in New Jersey will now have their first chance to take full advantage of MGM Resorts International entering the market. MGM Resorts International bought out long-time partner Boyd Gaming’s 50 percent interest in Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in 2016. Atlantic City, NJ’s top-grossing casino already had a foothold in the burgeoning local online poker and casino markets. However, MGM immediately expressed an interest in online gambling expansion. In May 2017, MGM Resorts International vowed to launch online poker and casino sites under its own playMGM brand.

Then, in August 2017, it did just that, launching a playMGM online casino and online poker site using GVC Holdings software. In fact, Borgata uses the same software. Additionally, playMGM Poker shares player pools with both Borgata Poker and Party Poker in New Jersey, operating on the same network.
