PokerStars’ New Jersey Championship Of Online Poker Is Biggest Series In State History

New Jersey online poker is going to see the biggest tournament series in its short history.

NJCOOP = $1.2 million

PokerStars released the schedule for October’s NJ Championship of Online Poker, and the bar for guarantees is set at $1.2 million.

That makes it bigger than the PartyPoker / Borgata Garden State Super Series, which has more than $1.1 million in guaranteed money over a two-week period in October. (The two series overlap for one week.)

It is also bigger than the NJ Spring Championship of Online Poker than PokerStars held soon after its New Jersey launch.

That means NJ tourney players will be able to play for a piece of well more than $2 million in prizes in October alone.

It could be a banner month for online poker revenue in New Jersey based on the competing tournament series being held concurrently.

The NJCOOP schedule

The NJCOOP will take place from October 15-31, and will include 43 tournaments over the course of the two weeks.

The highlight is the $500 No Limit Hold’em Main Event, with a $200,000 guarantee, on the final Sunday of the series.

There are two other tournaments on the first and second Sundays of NJCOOP with $100,000 guarantees, with buy-ins of $250 and $1,000, respectively. There are a variety of events that guarantee $50,000 or more, as well.

The slate includes variants beyond no-limit hold’em, as well, including mixed games and pot-limit Omaha.

Other promotions in and around the NJCOOP

Beyond the schedule itself, PokerStars is running a number of promotions designed to get players into the action:

  • The Mega Cash Bonus is a new take on rewarding players who deposit, without having to clear the bonus.
  • NJCOOP has a Player of the Series Leader Board, with the top 15 players winning a part of a prize pool of $10,000 in tournament dollars.
  • A variant of the popular Spin & Go tournament allows players to get a ticket the main event for just $2.50.
  • Four different freerolls will award main event tickets.
  • Anyone who plays in one of five NJCOOP events will have a shot at free PokerStars Festival New Jersey Main Event seats. The live festival takes place right after the online series.
