Inside the Series: A Look at Some Highlights of the 2022 WSOP Live Bracelet Events
Players headed out to the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas this summer will find 88 bracelet events on tap. The series runs from May 31 to July 20 and may be one of the biggest series to date.
The highly anticipated series is expected to be at full capacity with no mask or vaccine mandates. With the action just under three months away, USPoker took a look at some highlighted events players may want to check out.
New Jersey poker player Mark “Butter” Olivo is one of those ready to get in on the action.
“I turned 21 over the pandemic and haven’t been able to get to Las Vegas,” Olivo says. “I’m pretty excited to play in my first ever WSOP this summer.”

What’s new?
The WSOP is known to throw some new tournaments into the mix every summer and this year is no exception. Four events to check out are:
- $500 Housewarming
- $1,000 Mystery Bounty
- Tournament of Champions
- $250,000 Super High Roller
Housewarming (June 2)
The series is kicking off with the new Housewarming party event. This $500 is going to attract major numbers and boasts a $5 million guarantee. For this event to break even, there needs to be a field of more than 10,000 entries.
The largest WSOP tournament to date was the Big 50 back in 2019. The field swelled to 28,371 and there is a chance the Housewarming may see similar numbers.
Mystery Bounty (July 2)
This is one of the most anticipated events of the series. As the name implies, the tournament includes mystery bounties with one worth $1 million. The event was originally scheduled for 2020 before the COVID pandemic.
Mystery bounties are a popular new phenomenon in the poker world. These tournaments allow players to win big, but they don’t know their prize until opening their bounty. On Day 2, there will be multiple mystery bounties handed out after a player is eliminated. One of these bounties is a seven-figure payday.
Tournament of Champions (July 18)
For players looking to get into the Tournament of Champions, an entry can’t be bought – it must be earned. Players that win either a bracelet or WSOP Circuit ring in 2022 will be eligible for the tournament.
Even though this event has run in a different format in years past, the revival should make for some excitement. The best of the best will be on the felt together with some entertainment to go with it.
Super High Roller (June 23)
The $250,000 Super High Roller should attract some of the biggest names in poker. This event launches brings the highest buy-in of the 88 events.
Low roller value
If $250,000 may be a bit out of reach, check out USPoker’s picks for best bang for the buck in this series. Some low value events include:
- $400 Colossus
- $500 Salute to Warriors
- $500 Freezeout
- $1,000 Mini Main Event
Colossus (June 24)
The name refers to the amount of players, not the price tag. The $400 multi-day flight event starts building on June 24 and is the lowest buy-in of the series. That’s a great value for a player not looking to bust their bankroll.
The last Colossus in Las Vegas took place in 2019, attracting 13,109 entries and the prize pool exploded to $4.3 million. South Korea’s Sejin Park won that event for $451,727. Be on the lookout for the 2022 Colossus to possibly top these numbers.
Salute to Warriors (June 26)
This charity event in support of veterans with proceeds raised going to the USO and veteran organizations.
Not only are players giving to a good cause, the prize pool generally does pretty well. Even during a pandemic, the 2021 event saw a six-figure payday for reigning champion Eric Zhang.
$500 Freezeout (June 20)
Players enjoy freezeout events for the simple reason of not having to re-enter. Tournament players know multiple bullets won’t be coming out of their pockets.
Freezeouts also allow players to put pressure on opponents because they can’t bust and jump back in. In 2021, Anthony Koutsos froze out the competition and won $167,272 along with a bracelet.
Mini Main Event (July 1)
Just a few days before the Main Event, this three-day tournament features a $1,000 buy-in and is also in freezeout format. The Mini Main is a good warmup before the real deal.
In 2021, Georgios Sotiropoulos captured the title along with $432,575.
The classics
Every year there are a handful of events that always draw a good crowd and make for entertaining events. Some of those events include:
- $10,000 Main Event
- $1,500 Millionaire Maker
- $1,000 Tag Team
- $1,000 Seniors NLHE
Main Event (July 3)
Fireworks, freedom, hot dogs, and the Main Event are Fourth of July staples. This year is no exception. The Main Event takes place on the Vegas Strip for the first time ever.
“I’m looking at playing my first Main Event after turning 50 this year,” says Pete LaBrie, of Haddonfield, New Jersey. “Putting my poker skills up against 8,000 players will be exciting”
The Main Event record was set in 2006 when 8,773 players entered. WSOP officials anticipate a crowd close to or bigger than that number this year.
Koray Aldemir is the reigning champ, scoring $8 million for first prize in 2021. CBS Sports and PokerGo will again cover the event this year.

Millionaire Maker (June 16)
The $1,500 Millionaire Maker is another classic event and the name alone sells the event. The tournament has been a staple in the WSOP lineup for several years now. In 2021 Daniel Lazrus cashed in for the $1 million top prize.
Tag Team (Jun 26)
The Tag Team has grown into one of the best events in the series and begins. This tournament allows up to four players to participate as a team, “tagging” in another player when they get tired. A new trend sees players dressing up in fun costumes as a team.
Seniors NLHE (Jun 22)
The seniors event is open for players over 50 and continues to attract large numbers each year. That should continue in 2022 and the tournament always made for a nice vibe in the Rio.
In 2021, Robert McMillan won first place for a nice haul of $561,060. Here’s a look at the complete WSOP schedule.
