World Series of Poker Releases Daily Event Schedule; Series Kicks Off May 31 on Vegas Strip With 88 Events

The 53rd World Series of Poker is about three months away and organizers announced the complete schedule for this summer’s festivities on Wednesday.

The series runs from May 31 to July 20 with 88 events. The $10,000 Main Event also moves back to its traditional time frame around the Independence Day holiday. The championship event gets underway on July 3 and runs through July 16.

This year’s WSOP action shifts to the famous Las Vegas Strip for the first time. Events are scheduled to play out at the Bally’s (rebranding to Horseshoe Las Vegas) and Paris casinos. The move follows a 17-year run at the Rio.

“This year is particularly historic for the WSOP with its move to the heart of the Las Vegas Strip and debut in the best facilities we’ve ever had,” WSOP executive director Ty Stewart said in a news release. Stewart is heading up his 17th WSOP.

“We’re ready to welcome players from all over the world to our housewarming party at Bally’s, soon-to-be Horseshoe, and Paris. The schedule is jam-packed with first-class events and we expect this to be the biggest and most anticipated WSOP yet.”

WSOP officials also announced that per CDC and state guidelines, masks and proof of vaccine won’t be required as of now.

A look at WSOP’s new home & what to expect

The WSOP plans to utilize all convention space at both Paris and Bally’s. This will create the largest tournament capacity in the event’s history with over 200,000 square feet and 600 poker tables.

Players will once again find a wide variety of tournaments ranging in price point from $400 to $250,000. The main cage will be in Paris with the TV set located in the Bally’s Event Center. The two buildings are connected and share a parking garage.

When booking early, players in bracelet events can enjoy reduced hotel room rates at Bally’s, Paris, and other Caesars Entertainment properties.

The WSOP will work with broadcast partner CBS Sports for a second season of coverage with daily streaming on PokerGo. Poker fans will be able to view 18 different bracelet events with at least 15 hours of Main Event coverage.

As announced at the last Main Event, actor and poker player Vince Vaughn will serve as the WSOP’s inaugural master of ceremonies

Rumors continue to swirl that the WSOP may be moving to the Las Vegas Strip and players have begun expressing their opinions on the issue.

Highlights from the series

Players heading to Las Vegas have plenty of tournament action to check out. That includes a $500 opening event dubbed as “The Housewarming,” which comes with a $5 million guarantee.

Last year’s $500 “Reunion” proved to be a hit with 12,973 entrants. WSOP organizers are hoping for similar results with the Housewarming. Here’s a look at some other highlights from the series.

Huge weekend events (June 11 – July 16)

The WSOP’s flagship No Limit Hold’em events will run each Friday and Saturday. The Millionaire Maker, Monster Stack, Colossus, and The Closer all return with multi-million dollar prize pools.

$1,000 Million Dollar Mystery Bounty (July 2-4)

This new event was originally announced for 2020. The tournament features a mystery bounty for up to $1 million that players draw for. This action begins as a regular tournament with those who advance to day two claiming the bounty of players they knock out. Each player knocking someone out also earns an additional prize bounty.

Tournament of Champions (July 18-20)

The WSOP culminates with its first-ever Tournament of Champions. This $1 million freeroll tournament is open to any of the 88 bracelet winners and WSOP Circuit ring winners from the 2022 season. This event brings together regional grinders and international superstars alike.

Mid-stakes events (June and July)

The series has expanded No Limit Hold‘em events with buy-ins ranging from $2,000 to $5,000.

High Roller Bounty (May 31)

This new $100,000 buy-in event should attract plenty of players with big bankrolls. Each player earns a $25,000 bounty for each knockout.

Heads Up Championship (June 2)

This prestigious event gets a boost in buy-in from $10,000 to $25,000 and is capped at 64 players. Look for plenty of big names getting in the action.

$1,000 Flip and Go Presented by GGPoker (June 12)

This popular online format returns after being carried over to a live format from GGPoker. When the tournament begins, players are all in pre-flop on the first hand. All players are dealt three cards and select two. One player wins the table and immediately moves into the money. The tournament then plays out under a traditional structure.

$1,000 Seniors Championship (June 22-23)

This popular event returns with players allowed one optional re-entry.

Lucky Sevens (July 10-12)

A $777 event with guaranteed first-place money of $777,777.

Poker Hall of Fame Bounty (July 10)

This event honors members of the Poker Hall of Fame. The hall was founded in 1979, hence the buy-in of $1,979. Hall of Fame members have a freeroll in the tournament. Each of those has a bounty corresponding to the year they were inducted. The 2022 inductee will also be announced during the action.

Daily Deepstacks

These non-bracelet events remain popular with players who may have smaller bankrolls. Look for tournaments at 2 , 5, and 9 p.m. on most days in the Paris Ballroom. That will also be the location for satellite tournaments and live action daily.

WSOP.com online bracelets return as a big part of the series

The WSOP continues offering numerous online bracelet events each summer. These are available to players on the network in both Nevada and New Jersey. Seven events are also planned for players in Pennsylvania.

Many players compete online while also playing in live events. Players will find an online event every Sunday. A couple of events are sprinkled in on Tuesdays and one on Saturday as well.

The online schedule also includes three special “Double Up Bracelet Days” on June 5, July 10 and 17.  The schedule is highlighted by popular events including:

  • BIG $500
  • Lucky Sevens $7,777 high roller
  • two freezeout events
  • $1,000 NLHE Online Championship

Satellites for WSOP gold bracelet events are already underway at WSOP.com. These will also run continuously through the festival. Here’s a look at the complete WSOP.com bracelet schedule.
