US Poker Open Coming To NBC Sports Network; Global Poker Adds Online Version Of Series
Players at the sweepstakes online poker site Global Poker will soon have even more to play for. The site is partnering with PokerGO to run an upcoming online version of the US Poker Open (USPO).
Players can play in special online events for free and win real prizes at Global Poker. Freerolls and satellites are available on the site beginning Aug. 12. The entire series runs Aug. 23 to Sept. 5 with overall guarantees of 1 million Sweeps Coins (SC) and 500,000,000 Gold Coins (GC).
The partnership comes after Global became a presenting sponsor for the USPO’s television coverage on NBC Sports Network. The network began airing episodes of the tournament series on Monday.
“PokerGO is pleased to take its partnership with Global Poker to the next level,” PokerGO President Mori Eskandani said in a news release.
“With the online US Poker Open series on Global Poker running alongside the premiere episodes on NBC Sports Networks, poker enthusiasts will have an elevated viewing experience that includes being able to both watch and play the USPO at the same time.
A look at the USPO online series
Global Poker players will have a lot to check out with 32 US Poker Open trophy events on the schedule. For the first time in Global Poker history, there will also be a leaderboard across the tournament series.
The top 10 players on the overall Gold Coin and Sweeps Coin leaderboards score some added prizes. Here’s a look at some other highlights:
- A Gold Coin Main Event with GC125,000,000 guaranteed
- A Sweeps Coin Main Event with SC250,000 guaranteed
- Global Poker champion packs for winners
- The overall GC leaderboard champion wins exclusive merchandise and a Golden Scrimmage tournament named after him or her.
- The SC leaderboard champion wins a $5,000 Las Vegas poker package. The winner receives a golden trophy, a framed USPO felt, and a check in a ceremony at the PokerGO Studio.
The USPO series on Global Poker will be available in two parts, one using the platform’s Gold Coin virtual social gaming currency and a second using Sweeps Coins.
Sweeps Coins are the site’s free sweepstakes entry tokens used to participate in promotional play.

What to expect from USPO on NBC Sports
NBCSN will air the USPO each Monday throughout August. The high roller action features some of the biggest names in poker including Daniel Negreanu, Jason Koon, Stephen Chidwick, Elia Elezra, Ali Imsirovic, and others.
Viewers can witness reigning USPO champion David Peters chase consecutive series titles.
The second four episodes will air Aug. 23 and the final four episodes air Aug. 30.
