WSOP.com Heads Back To Rio With Online Circuit Series; 12 Rings On The Line, $1 Million Guaranteed
The World Series of Poker is closing out summer with the Rio Online Circuit Series from Aug. 20-31. The series lets players compete for 12 championship rings and over $1 million in guaranteed prizes.
The events are exclusive to players in the New Jersey and Nevada markets at WSOP.com. While the platform is also available in Pennsylvania, that state isn’t part of a shared liquidity market yet.
WSOP.com Rio Circuit standout events
No Limit Hold’em is the primary game of choice during the latest Online Circuit Series. A single Omaha tournament stands out as the exception.
The $525 Main Event highlights the festival on Aug. 29 with a $250,000 guarantee. Some other highlighted events include:
- $215 Monster Stack (Event 3, Aug. 22) – $125,000 guaranteed
- $500 Pot Limit Omaha BIG (Event 4, Aug. 23) – $50,000 guaranteed
- $2,000 Super High Roller Six-Max (Event 5, Aug. 24) – $100,000 guaranteed
- $320 Double Stack (Event 9, Aug. 28) – $100,000 guaranteed
- $1,000 High Roller Six-Max (Event 12, Aug. 31) – $100,000 guaranteed

Monthly leaderboard cash up for grabs
WSOP.com continues to run a $10,000 monthly leaderboard for each Online Circuit Series. The top 10 circuit grinders each month win WSOP.com tournament tickets.
The winner also wins a seat into the year-end WSOP Online Circuit Championship with a $250,000 guarantee. That tournament is set for Dec. 28 and rewards the champion with a WSOP gold bracelet.
Players qualify for the championship by winning a:
- gold ring event
- $10,000 Player of the Month leaderboard
- Second Chance Freeroll
Players also earn entry by being one of the top 50 players on the cumulative circuit leaderboard. New Jersey’s Daniel “juice” Buzgon continues to hold the top spot on the leaderboard. He has eight WSOP Circuit rings in his collection.

Notable winners from July’s events
Players have been grinding hard to score circuit rings all year long. In July, 12 rings were up for grabs and a lot of regulars were thirsty to get their hands on one.
Ryan “Whosyourdodd” Dodd scored his third ring this year after winning a $320 NLHE Six-Max for $22,296.
Bryan “PellePelle” Piccioli also had a big month in July. Besides winning a bracelet, he also shipped the Online Circuit Main Event and captured $51,247.
He wasn’t the only player to perform this feat. Popular Twitch streamer Justin “LappyPoker” Taylor also won a bracelet and took down a $320 Double Stack for $24,111.
Another player that ran hot in July was Corey “Corgasm” Paggeot. He made multiple bracelet event final tables and captured a circuit ring in a $250 Freezeout for $24,204.
In the $500 PLO Six-Max, John “macallan25” Riordan grabbed his third ring after defeating Joseph “biuberry” Cheong heads up. Riordan scored $26,204 for the victory.
Freeroll cash up for grabs at WSOP.com
August Rio Circuit ring winners also earn entries into a $25,000 freeroll set for Sept. 3. Those finishing among the top 10 on the monthly leaderboard also receive freeroll entries.
The current WSOP.com Player of the Year Michael Holtz took down July’s freeroll, earning $5,000 for the feat.
Also on Sept 3, WSOP.com hosts a Second Chance Freeroll for players who participated in at least three August ring events. The winner-take-all tournament awards a seat in the $250,000 Online Circuit Championship.
The next circuit series is the Caesars Las Vegas Circuit Online in September. Players can grab 12 more rings during events running Sept.15-26.
