Bovada Stops Accepting New Players from New Jersey
Bovada is the latest offshore poker site to stop accepting players from New Jersey. This may have been in response to the cease and desist letters that were sent to online gaming companies that are still promoting or offering action to New Jersey players in April. The move only affects new players. Existing New Jersey Bovada players are still allowed to play.
New Jersey is not the only state that Bovada does not accept. Players in Washington, Maryland, Utah and New York are also not allowed to create accounts at Bovada.
This move followed three other U.S.-facing networks that restricted play from New Jersey. In January, Merge Gaming banned players in the state, as well as Delaware. It later banned Nevada players. Earlier this month, the Winning Poker Network and Equity Poker Network stopped allowing access to New Jersey, Delaware, and Nevada players.
Unlike Bovada, these networks restricted existing players.
New Jersey regulates online poker and casino games through Atlantic City casinos. Legal options include Borgata Poker, Party Poker, WSOP.com, 888, and Ultimate Poker.
